Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is the amount of carbon dioxide or CO2 that’s released into the atmosphere as a result of a routine action. Changing some of the products you buy can help reduce your individual and household’s carbon footprint. Visit http://footprint.wwf.org.uk/ to measure your footprint.

Carbon Neutral

This term is often used alongside the term carbon footprint. Being carbon neutral means as an individual or organization you have neutralized the effects of your daily routine, so your actions no longer contribute towards global warming. The Government’s “Together” campaign provides more details on how you can reduce your carbon emissions. http://www.together.com/

Fairtrade

Fairtrade logoFairtrade is based on the principle that growers or producers of products within the developing world are paid fairly (above market prices) for their produce, resulting in improved working and living conditions. If you are unsure if a product supports Fairtrade you can look for the UK Fairtrade mark. For more details about Fairtrade, visit: www.fairtrade.org.uk
